How Many Days Until Vacation? Final Note…

Surprisingly, most of our flights ran on time, even on a challenging weather day. As the wind blew the snow horizontally across the windows on our final approach to Kansas City last night, I started to really wonder why I was coming back. Always listen to your “intuition,” which leads me to a tip you should think about before you park your car at the airport. If it’s available, park your car in the covered parking, versus out in the open and you won’t ever be digging your car out. Besides, who brings a shovel with them when the trunk is filled with luggage anyway? As I started my “clean” car right up and headed for the exit, I was reminded of the man driving the bus that delivered me to my car. He had indicated they had run out of places to push the snow, so now they were putting it in dump trucks and carrying it away…this should have been a clue.
The freeways were relatively clear, but our exit was notoriously snowy. This was but a sign of what was to come as we turned into our subdivision. The 3ft pile at the end of our driveway was only outmatched for the chest high drift by the garage door. Was it me or my car that noticably groaned? As we shoveled just enough to get the car out of the street and onto the driveway, I thought to myself that if I had gone home to Colorado instead…it would be great for skiing about now. Hot chocolate anyone?
Why do we consider travel a basic desire nowadays? In 2008, only 30 percent of trips over 50 miles were done for business – the rest- for pure pleasure. Work is nerve-racking, the family needs to be fed and money is and will always be a problem. Meanwhile, there are hot deals on flights, romance is in the air in Paris no matter the season and life is still waiting for you at the corner
